At Bayside Christian College, we partner with families as children journey from Kindergarten to Year 12 and beyond. Throughout that journey, we sow the truths of God into the daily lives of our students.

We provide many opportunities and educational pathways for each child to thrive, supporting each student to discover and develop their God-given abilities. This is reflected in our equal commitment to both VCE and VCE VM, and the opportunities provided by our Trades Skills Centre.

Early Learning Centre

Our Early Learning Centre offers a unique kindergarten program for 3 and 4-year-olds. We combine a Christian program with inquiry-based learning inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach.

Our kindergarten fosters an atmosphere of play-based learning, where children are immersed in experiences and exploration to help them learn more about God and His world. We foster and encourage values of faith, hope, love, joy, peace and service.

The program of both the 3 and 4-year-old groups is informed by the five outcomes of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework: identity, community, wellbeing, learning and communication.

We provide full-day programs for both 3 and 4-year-olds:

3-Year-Old: 9:00am-3.00pm Monday-Tuesday
4-Year Old: 9:00am-3.00pm Wednesday-Friday

Primary School

Welcome to our Primary School, where we foster a nurturing, safe and uplifting environment designed to equip children to blossom and thrive.

Rooted in the wisdom of God’s Word, guided by timeless Biblical principles, and framed within a Christian worldview, every aspect of our school—our attitudes, actions, interactions, and educational endeavours—is infused with purpose and meaning.

In our vibrant learning community, in addition to the essential literacy and numeracy lessons, students are encouraged to explore and express themselves through a diverse array of subjects.

From Physical Education to creative and performing Art classes, Music, Library, Indonesian, and innovative STEM, every child has the opportunity to discover and develop their unique talents and interests.

Secondary School

Our Secondary School partners with families to encourage and assist in the ongoing development of their children. We provide a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where our students flourish, are stretched, and aspire to be their best in Christ.

Through intentional pastoral care and personal approach, our Secondary School supports students to grow in character and resiliency during their teenage years. The daily Homegroup system provides students with additional support, an environment for spiritual growth, whilst maintaining a measure of accountability. It also helps to ensure that students plan their work and organise their time effectively.

Our Years 7 to 10 Secondary students develop their knowledge, understanding and skills through a rich and inclusive core curriculum that includes: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities (Civics & Citizenship, Geography, History), Physical Education, Indonesian, Biblical Studies and Pastoral Care.

The choice-based elective program across these year levels provides students with the opportunity to further develop their individual gifts, talents and interests. Our Electives include: Agriculture, Art, Athletic Development, Design Technology, Food Technology, Information Technology, Media, Music, Outdoor & Environmental Studies, Performing Arts, Textiles and Visual Communication Design.

Chromebook Program

Bayside Christian College is committed to incorporating ICT into classes in a meaningful and cost-effective manner to support instruction and enable personalised learning.

Our Chromebook and MacBook Program supports our students to develop their God-given gifts, establishing an engaging learning environment that makes use of e-books and other online educational resources for collaboration and communication. We also acknowledge that study demands and requirements increase at senior Secondary by providing a suitable device that can be taken and used for further studies post Year 12.

Because we recognise that online safety is an increasingly important factor in the wellbeing of our students, Bayside provides cybersafety programs and resources for students, teachers, parents and the wider community to provide safer online environments both at school and home.

Senior Secondary Pathways

Beginning in Year 10, our Secondary students have the choice to commence either the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM). They are also able to include a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course/subject through an external TAFE provider as part of their VCE or VCE VM studies.

Experienced teachers within the Secondary leadership team aim to provide resources and advice during the selection period to assist families to make decisions about the educational pathway that best prepares the student for life after school.

Whichever pathway they choose, our Secondary students benefit from a wide selection of subjects and learning opportunities, small class sizes and dedicated study spaces. We teach all our subjects from a Christian worldview, encouraging students to understand and respond to the world through the perspective of God’s truth.

VCE

Our VCE students choose from a wide selection of subjects in the fields of English (including Literature), Mathematics (Foundation, General, Methods, Specialist), Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology), Humanities (Business Management, Legal Studies, History), Physical Education, Outdoor Environmental Studies, Health and Human Development, and Performing and Visual Arts (Art Making and Exhibiting, Media, Product Design and Technology, Visual Communication Design).

VCE VM

Our VCE VM students participate in compulsory learning strands across three days per week at the College including: Literacy and Numeracy, Work Related Skills, Industry Specific Skills and Personal Development Skills; and complete a Certificate II in Active Volunteering. They also complete a VET course at TAFE or other registered training organisation one day per week, and undertake a part-time apprenticeship, traineeship or work placement on the fifth day.

Trades Skills Centre

Our purpose-built Trades Skills Centre includes a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, classrooms and outdoor learning spaces to support Christian vocational education and training in Agriculture and Hospitality.

The Trades Skills Centre is distinct from other vocational education settings, as it provides a nurturing environment through pastoral care and mentoring. We support students to understand that they have been uniquely gifted for service, worship and stewardship in order to participate and contribute towards God’s creative and restorative work on earth.

Students undertaking programs through the Trades Skills Centre develop a wide range of transferable vocational and employability skills. Our programs equip students with invaluable life and work related skills, and allow them to explore topics such as the production, consumption and distribution of food through a Biblical lens.

The two Trades Skills Centre programs are suitable for both VCE and VCE VM student pathways in Years 11 and 12.
